After becoming “unwell with severe abdominal pain,” the 53-year-old Italian was diagnosed with cholecystitis, or gallbladder inflammation.

Spurs’ next Premier League match is against second-placed Manchester City at home on Sunday.

The manager will return “after a period of recuperation,” according to the club.
