Nathan Tella, born in England, has expressed delight with his invitation to the Nigerian nationa team, saying the opportunity to represent the country is a massive feeling for him.

Tella has had a great weekend, scoring in first Bundesliga goal in a 4-0 win for Bayer Leverkusen over Union Berlin.

The 24-year-old was handed a maiden invitation by Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Speaking exclusively with Oma Sports at the BayArena in Leverkusen, Tella said: “Yes, for the call up I was very happy, and having that opportunity to represent the country is a massive feeling for me and to top it all again with the team to win and to score my first Bundesliga goal for this club is an amazing feeling and it is probably the best week of my year so far.”

Tella has been called up alongside his club teammate Victor Boniface and other Super Eagles, and the winger, who’s only been in Nigeria once, says he’s looking forward to whole experience.

“I spoke to Victor [Boniface] and Alex iwobi as well, for me I am just looking for how it feels to play with the best players in the country and what I can learn from all of them as well as implementing my own stamp on the game and try to play well, but I’m really looking forward to it and it should be a good week away.

“Victor [Boniface] has assured me that he will look after me as well, so I am looking happy and feel happy and feeling good.”
