Nigeria international Victor Boniface kept up his impressive performances in the Bundesliga with a fine brace as Bayer Leverkusen soundly defeated Heidenheim 4-1 on Sunday.
The result keeps Leverkusen level on points with Bayern Munich at the top of the German top division.
Boniface, who joined Leverkusen from Belgian side Union St Gilloise in July, has impressed in Germany, going into this game with six goals in as many outings in all competitions.
The Nigerian opened the scoring inside the opening 9 minutes and scored his second in the 74th minute through a penalty to put Leverkusen 3-1 up.
Leverkusen have won all but one of their first five league games this season, with the other a 2-2 against Bayern Munich last weekend.
Boniface, 22, is third (6 goals) on the league’s goalscoring chart – behind Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy (10 goals) and Harry Kane of Bayern Munich (6 goals).
