Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr side have been banned from registering any new players after a saga involving former Leicester striker Ahmed Musa.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Saudi outfit have been banned from adding any new players into their squad this summer because they failed to pay Leicester add-ons from a deal for Musa, who joined the club for £14m in 2018.

Musa won the league with Al-Nassr but was released in 2020. FIFA has now ruled that the club have failed to pay Leicester £390,000 in performance-related add-ons.

FIFA’s ruling had claimed that the ban could last for three consecutive transfer windows, but the Public Investment Fund (PIF) have made it clear they are ready to pay the fee in order to lift the ban.

The nine-time Saudi champions became one of the first clubs to secure a big name in the region after they signed Ronaldo. The Portuguese is earning £173m a year and his arrival has led to an influx of stars to Saudi Arabia..

He was joined by former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema in the countryAMP, the Frenchman completing a move to Al-Ittihad, where he’s been joined by N’Golo Kante. Al-Nassr have continued their big-spending, adding Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan, while Italy international Domenico Berardi and Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech are among the names to have been linked with a move to the club.
