Former Nigeria International and Bolton Wanderers of England midfielder, Jay Jay Okocha has said in a recent interview that he would have commanded a big price tag considering the amounts clubs are paying for transfers of football players in recent years.
” Chelsea under new ownerships paid £106m in January for a defensive midfielder and maybe I would cost around £150m”, said the former Hull City of England player.
” My dribbles, my assists, and players with such quality would command a high price in today’s market”
The 49 years old also communicated his disappointments in leaving Turkey in the early stages of his career, where he said he was loved by the fans, and also the fact he met his wife and started his family in the country.
” Before I left for the World Cup, I did not have it in mind to leave Fenerbahce SK, but after playing at World Cup, I got an offer from PSG. Aziz Yildirim was the president of the club at the time, he didn’t want me to go, and he didn’t even interview PSG. The process was difficult. I was sad to leave but I wanted to make money for the club.
