Kortrijk forward Charles-Jesaja Herrmann has expressed happiness upon return to football action following a three-month absence due to injury.
Herrmann, who’s Ghanaian, had not played since August after he was ruled out with a groin injury but returned to the pitch for Kortrijk in the Belgian top-division last week.
“The feeling is quite good,” the 21-year-old said following his return. “To be honest, I’m very happy to be back on the pitch. It’s been almost three months now, so I’m very grateful and happy to be back and train with the team.”
Herrmann disclosed that the time spent on the sideline was “very difficult” for him but he was surrounded by the right people and his family who helped him pull through.
“It was very difficult for me, but I’m happy to be back and play and get more healthy.
“My groin had an inflammation and sometimes it’s hard to treat this injury. You’ve got to be strong in your head, but when you’ve got the right people around you, it’s quite okay. My family helped me a lot through this time.”
Herrmann has had 14 minutes of play from two games – against Eupen and Sporting Charleroi – since his return and is now looking to not just feature more, but score goals for the club, adding that “when I start playing for the club and scoring some goals then I’m happy.”
