Cape Verde claimed a 1-0 win against Ethiopia to begin their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a fine note in Yaounde.

Ethiopia were reduced to 10 men early in the first half after Yared Baye was sent off for a last man foul in the 12th minute. Just before half time, Cape Verde scored the only goal of the game through Julio Tavares.
