Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe insists that Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League defeat at the hands of Manchester City was not a true reflection of a side that boasts the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Angel Di Maria.
Goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus led City to a comeback win at the Etihad Stadium, after Mbappe had put the visitors in front.
City dominated across 90 minutes but Kimpembe is convinced that there is more to come from his side, who still made it through to the last 16 as a result of Club Brugge’s defeat to RB Leipzig.
“The number one objective was to qualify, that’s for sure. But we are still disappointed by this defeat,” Kimpempe told reporters after the match.
“We know we can do better. We are competitors and we don’t like defeat. What do we have to improve on? We have to kill the games earlier.
“We also have to work as a team, middle block, sliding… and that will do the trick.”
