Sancho send Man United into Champions League last-16
Manchester United defeated Villarreal 2-0 to advance to the knockout stage of the Champions League, thanks to second half strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
Ronaldo, who scored an injury-time winner for a 2-1 win against the Yellow Submarines back in September, delivered for his side yet again with a lovely finish in the 78th minute to put United in front.
Sancho then doubled the Red Devils’ lead in the 91st minute – his first goal for the club – to wrap up a disciplined performance from Michael Carrick’s men at the Estadio de la Ceramica in Spain.
The win sees United top Group F with 10 points and reach the last 16 with a game to spare. It’s also Carrick’s first win in his first game as interim boss.
