Genoa and Roma will meet on November 21 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in the Serie A.

Shevchenko, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2004 while at AC Milan, joined Genoa on a deal until 2024 following the sacking of Davide Ballardini who was dismissed on Saturday after their 2-2 draw with Empoli on Friday night.

“Kicking off this new adventure to bring back Genoa to its great history,” Shevchenko wrote in a Twitter post.

Iniziamo questa nuova avventura insieme per riportare il Genoa ai livelli della sua storia. @GenoaCFC @SerieA

Shevchenko was formerly coach of Ukraine – a role he left in August. He had guided the national team to the quarterfinals of the 2020 European Championship for the first time in their history.

Genoa are currently 17th in the Serie A – 3 points above bottom-placed Cagliari.
