co. leave Super Eagles camp due to Britain’s Covid-19 restrictions, replaced with seven standby players
Following the absence of eight UK-based players in the Super Eagles squad, Gernot Rohr has selected seven standby players for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde.
Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored a brace against Liberia on Friday, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo, Frank Onyeka, and Joe Aribo will not be part of the squad travelling to Cape Verde due to the island nation being in Britain’s COVID-19 red list. The players have already left the camp.
The rest of the available squad in camp is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho; Daniel Akpeyi; Maduka Okoye
Defenders: Chidozie Awaziem; Kenneth Omeruo; Valentine Ozornwafor; Tyronne Ebuehi; Olaoluwa Aina; Jamilu Collins; Abdullahi Shehu; Zaidu Sanusi.
Midfielders: Innocent Bonke, Kingsley Michael.
Forwards: Ahmed Musa; Samuel Kalu; Victor Osimhen; Moses Simon; Paul Onuachu; Terem Moffi; Henry Onyekuru; Chidera Ejuke.
Nigeria, who currently sit top of Group C, will play Cape Verde in their second 2022 World Cup qualifying game on Tuesday.
