Football fans have always known the likeable Jurgen Klopp with his signature glasses. However, before the new season began, the German was spotted without them probably for the first time in a lifetime.
Fans were left surprised when they saw the Liverpool coach without his trademark glasses. But he has now explained what changed.
In an interview with BILD, Klopp disclosed that he underwent successful eye treatment over the summer – and that it could be the end of his iconic glasses.
“It’s actually totally private, but I can explain it to you once too. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old – that’s 44 years,” the German told BILD.
“The problem in recent years was that the glasses could no longer correct my poor eyesight. The solution to this was a minor intervention. It wasn’t lasering or anything, but it made me see very well without glasses at the moment.”
However, the eccentric German admitted that it will take some time to get used to a glasses-free appearance.
“I think my face is weird without glasses, but I don’t need them anymore. I may need one more. When that happens, I’ll wear glasses again,” he said.
