Manchester City bounced back spectacularly from last weekend’s defeat to thrash Norwich City 5–0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
City began their Premier League season on a poor note, when they fell 1–0 to Tottenham last weekend. But that is now distant memory, after their impressive performance at the Etihad.
Tim Krul opened the scoring with an own goal, before £100 million signing Jack Grealish put his side 2–0 up. Aymeric Laporte and Raheem Sterling stretched City’s lead with strikes in the second half before Riyad Mahrez, who came on as a substitute, hit the fifth with a fine strike in the 84th minute.
After a sluggish start last week, the defending champions now appear to be up and running. Pep Guardiola and co. will try to maintain this intensity when they host Arsenal at the Eithad next Sunday.
Meanwhile, Norwich, who fell 3–0 to Liverpool last weekend, will look to halt their two-match losing run in the Premier League when they face Leicester City next week.
