Sparta goalkeeper and Nigerian international Maduka Okoye has expressed a desire to join Dutch first division side AZ Alkmaar as rumors swell regarding the possible transfer.
AZ Alkmaar are expected to lose their current first choice goalie Marco Bizot who helped the club finish in a respectable 3rd position in the Eredevise last season and it is to 20-year old Okoye that Alkmaar may turn to come this season.
The Nigerian shot stppper, while stressing that a move to Alkmaar is no where near at the moment, admits that he will jump at the opportunity if it presents itself.
““They haven’t talked to me, and as long as Marco Bizot is still there, I don’t know either,” Okoye told ESPN as per VoetbalPrimeur.
“Of course, it would be a perfect step for me to take a bigger step from there.”
Okoye has been in superb form since he switched to Sparta at the start of last season and his 10 clean sheets in 24 games saw him become the best goalkeeper in the Eredevise.
