Bayern Munich have confirmed RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann will take over as the head coach of the club at the end of the season and will sign a five year contract.
Current coach Hansi Flick’s contract is terminated on request, two years short of the stipulated time.
Flick requested his contract be terminated at the end of the season despite having one more year left on it and will likely take over the German national team after Euro 2020.
Nagelsmann who is under contract with RB Leipzig until 2023 will also terminate his contract, a step which could cost Bayern Munich up to €20m.
He has long eyed the Bayern Munich job, he said to Eurosport in 2017 “I am happy with my life but maybe Bayern Munich will make it happier.”
Bayern Munich have also confirmed the signing of RB Leipzig centre half Dayot Upamecano.
