On this day in 2011, a very terrible news broke in the Nigerian football family that then Super Eagles player Olubayo Adefemi had died in a ghastly car accident in Greece.

Adefemi was on his way to the airport in Greece to fly to Nigeria to finalise his wedding plans with then girlfriend Folashade Adeshina when the tragic incident happened.

He was part of the Nigerian squad that finished runners up at the 2005 FIFA U20 World Cup and 2008 Beijing Olympics, on both occasions to Argentina.

10 years after his death, world football governing body FIFA is remembering the beloved Nigerian who was playing for Skoda Xanthi at the time of his death.
