Inter Miami striker Gonzalo Higuain has shared an insight into what he plans to do with his life after retiring from football.

Higuain, 33, began his professional career in 2005 with River Plate in his native Argentina before moving to Europe has said that his life won’t be in football after retirement as he hopes to focus on other adventures.

He doesn’t want to take the path few retired footballers take by going into coaching, scouting or punditry after retirement but wants a different life.

“I’ve decided,” he told La Nación. “I retired from international football because I wanted to focus on what would happen next.”

“My life won’t be in football after I retire. I’ll take a different path,” he emphasised.

“I want to have fun with my family and my people. Then I’ll find something I like. I’d like to take cooking classes or study oenology [study of wines]. The wine captures me.”

Higuain played for some of the best clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea before joining David Beckham’s franchise in the MLS, Inter Miami.

He retired from the Argentina nations team in 2018 after the World Cup where Argentina were eliminated by France in the round of 16.
