The 2020/21 UEFA Champions League quarter final first leg enters its second day with Bayern hosting a familiar foe in PSG who they beat in last season’s final in Lisbon, Portugal to clinch their sixth European title. Porto also host Chelsea at a neutral ground at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, Seville, Spain where the second leg will also be played.

PSG got the better of Bayern Munich who were without striker Robert Lewandowski. Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring inside three minutes from a Neymar pass before Neymar again assisted Marquinhos to make it 2-0.

Bayern pulled one back through Eric Choupo-Moting and drew level through Thomas Muller. Kylian Mbappe put PSG ahead once more with his eight goal of the campaign and surpassed Thierry Henry (12) as the highest scoring Frenchman in the Champions League knockout stages with 13 goals.

Chelsea took charge of their quarter final tie against Porto with one goal in each half, first from Mason Mount, a superb turn and finish and second from Ben Chilwell who beat the Porto defence line, rounded the goalkeeper and cooly slotted home. Both scored their first Champions League goals for the club.

Porto were the better side but lacked the cutting edge and obviously missed their goal scorers in Sergio Oliveira and Mehdi Taremi both of whom were suspended and have contributed to 40% of the team’s goals this season.

PSG will welcome Bayern Munich to the Parc de Princes next week with three huge away goals but knowing there’s still all to play for while Chelsea with two goals advantage will be hoping to reach their first Champions League semi final since 2012 when they won it will be the home team when they face Porto again next week at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
