RB Salzburg’s Malian duo of Mohamed Camara and Sekou Koita have been handed three months suspension by UEFA for use of banned substances while on international duty.

Camara and Koita received from the Mali team doctor a drug against altitude sickness that contained an active ingredient that is on the doping list.

UEFA ruled it as unintentional doping but as the doping regulations say, each player is personally responsible for ensuring that no prohibited substances enter his or her body.

The ban is effective immediately and applies to all national and international football activities. The team doctor in charge was immediately suspended by the Malian association.

Their suspension comes after Cameroon and Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana was suspended for 12 months for taking a banned substance.
