Lionel Messi has placed his record breaking boots for auction and the proceeds would he donated to charity to support children with charity.
Messi broke Pele’s record of most goals for a single (643 for Santos) by scoring his goal number 644 for Barcelona againat Real Valladolid. He has now put the boot he wore that day on auction.
“Reaching the historic total of 644 goals for the same club fills me with joy,” Messi told Sport.
“But the most important thing is to be able to give something back to the children fighting for their health.
“We hope the auction in April will increase knowledge of this great cause.”
Messi put aside a dispute with Barcelona at the end of last season to stay on at Barcelona and pinpointed former president Josep Maria Bartomeu as one of the reasons he wanted to leave, saying he lied to him on many things.
