The Court of Arbitration for Sports has reinstated Mr. Ahmad Ahmad as CAF president but he remains ineligible to contest for the upcoming CAF presidential elections on March 12, 2021, according to a statement released by CAS:

“The Panel has rejected the request for provisional measures filed by Mr Ahmad seeking that an order be imposed preventing FIFA from taking any decision aimed at preventing Mr Ahmad from participating in, or aimed at making it difficult for him to participate in, the election for the CAF presidency scheduled for 12 March 2021.”

Ahmad was suspended from all football related activities and fined by FIFA Adjudicatory committee in November 2020 for corruption but filed for an appeal at CAS.

CAS fixed the next hearing for March 2 but emphasized that the temporary decision to reinstate Ahmad does not prejudge in my way the decision it will take after analysing the merits of the case, once the written proceedings and the hearing have been completed.
