Egyptian powerhouse, Zamalek, have threatened to file a lawsuit against Saint-Etienne, following Les Verts president’s comments.

Zamalek and Saint-Etienne were in negotiations to complete Mostafa Mohamed’s move to the French side.

The deal was on the verge of completion, until the Saint-Etienne president claimed that some representatives of Zamalek demanded commissions if the deal wasn’t completed.

This understandably angered the Whites, who have decided to stop all negotiations and are now threatening to take legal measures.

“Mostafa Mohamed’s deal was close to completion and hinged on small details. But the statements of Saint Etienne’s president turned the tables and it was natural for Zamalek to take a stand that preserves the dignity of the club,” the club’s spokesperson, Essam Salem, told Sada El-Balad TV.

“The Saint-Etienne president is blackmailing us. We are now asking him to reveal the names of the people he threatens to mention.

“The negotiations took place in the presence of 8 people and with official and documented letters.

“Zamalek’s reaction was strong because what was said was unjust and slanderous, and we will file a lawsuit if he doesn’t reveal the names.

“Mostafa Mohamed is completely understanding and sent a message to the Zamalek management today and told them: I have your back. He is a product of Zamalek and it is impossible for him to play for a team that offended the club.

“We had agreed on the fee, $5m, but the dispute was in our desire to get the full amount right away. While Saint-Etienne wanted to pay a part now and the rest in one year.

“We wanted to get the full amount to use it to buy a player or two in the winter transfer window,” he concluded.

Several European sides have shown interest in Mostafa but Turkish giants, Galatasaray, are now favorites to sign him as they have explicitly shown interest in signing the 23-year-old.

The club want to replace their striking duo, Radamel Falcao and Mbaye Diagne, who have been in very poor form. The Red and Gold are looking to add some young blood and Mostafa Mohamed is their prime target.
