Schalke 04 ended their winless streak at the 31st attempt with a 4-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim and avoided matching Tasmania Berlin’s record of 31 Bundesliga games without a win in the 1965/66 season.

American teenage striker Matthew Hoppe scored a hattrick, his first Bundesliga goals, all assisted by Amine Harit, who also got one to make it four for the Royal Blues.

Schalke’s last victory was a 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on January 17, 2020, a week later they lost 5-0 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena to begin their woes.

Former player Sead Kolašinac who returned on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season captained Schalke on a winning return to the club after three years.

Captain Kolašinac.

Schalke still sits 19th on the Bundesliga table but the win would surely breathe a new ray of ‘Hoppe’ into the club as they would try to avoid relegation.
