Aston Villa has confirmed the club recorded 14 new cases of coronavirus, 10 of which are players, according to the club’s Chief Executive Christian Purslow.

“We went from zero positive tests for Covid to 14 yesterday. Ten of the 14 positive tests are for players.” Purslow said on Sky Sports News.

The third round FA Cup tie with Liverpool will go ahead with the club fielding youth players but their next two Premier League games against Tottenham and Everton are in doubt.

The club yesterday closed their Bodymoor Heath training ground after the outbreak of the virus at the Midlands club.
