Former Senegalese international striker Mbaye Leye has taken over at Belgium first division club Standard Liege as first team coach, the club confirmed.

“Standard Liege and our former player and assistant coach Mbaye Leye reached an agreement: the Senegalese 38 years became the head coach of our team one era to the end of the 2020-2021 season.” the club said in a statement.

Mbaye spent most of his career in Belgium and played for Standard Liege between 2010 and 2012. He won the Belgian Cup with Gent, Standard Liege and Zulte Waregem.
