Seven times World Champion Lewis Hamilton has spoken about the risks involved in their “dangerous” sport after the horror incident at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Hamilton won his 95th career race but it was the accident to Haas driver Romain Grosjean that caught the headlines. Though Grosjean got out with few burn injuries, the incident showed the level of high risk taken in the sport.
Hamilton first tweeted about Grosjean’s safety before posting about his win and the incident, also thanking his team for yet another race win in 2020.

“What a crazy day. I’m so glad that both Romain and Lance were able to walk away from their accidents today. I’m wishing you both a speedy recovery. That was a tough race overall, I’m sure the other drivers felt it too. It’s a reminder to us and hopefully to the people who are watching that this is a dangerous sport, whilst we’re out there pushing the limits. We have to respect it. So grateful to the marshals and medical teams for the work they’ve done to put safety first today…” he said about the risks involved in racing.
Hamilton will match the record of 13 wins in a season set by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel if he wins the remaining two races of the year.
