The federation of international football association FIFA recently made public the names of nominees for its annual award “The Best FIFA Football Awards”, an event where the best players in the year are celebrated and the best footballer in the world is announced.

Tottenham FC manager, Jose Mourinho has expressed his thoughts on the award. While speaking to the media ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s UEFA Europa League fixture against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets, the Portuguese manager said:

“I don’t want to say that it is politics, because I know well and I have a very good relationship with FIFA and UEFA as institutions and with the people there. So I don’t want to say it is politics but I want to say that it has a lot to do with a certain club power in the media and has a lot with the people that care more about it and work better behind the scenes to try to get in thee. I do not give much credit to it”
