Haaland
In form Borussia Dortmund attacker, Erling Haaland has said his father is his biggest role model. Haaland, 19, was voted the Player of the Month for January in the Bundesliga for his impressive scoring streak.
He has bagged a total of 11 goals in his seven games for Dortmund and has been getting all the accolades. In an interview with Bundesliga, Haaland said he hopes to do better than his dad, particularly with his number of caps for the Norwegian national team and his premier league appearances. Erling, born in Leeds is the son of former Leeds United midfielder, Alf-Ing Haaland who quit football after sustaining nasty injuries.
“My father has been a big role model for me. I always said to myself I want to become a professional football player at a high level, and that’s what I said my whole life. To try to get better than him is also a goal and he has 34 games for Norway, and I think over 200 games in the Premier League, in England, so it’s still missing a bit.”
Speaking on the Signal Iduna Park being the perfect environment for his growth, he said; “I’ve been here one month, but when my teammates are so good, it’s getting easy sometimes, you know, to create chances and to play with them, because they’re so good. The first second I played with Jadon, Marco, Thorgan, you know these guys, it just sits direct, and that’s how it is with world-class players.” “When I walked out for the first time, on the bench of course, and I heard the Yellow Wall and the whole stadium singing, it was fantastic, it was like a dream to play in front of 80,000. It was another level.
