Imagine the feeling to find your favourite football star walking by the roadside, just like a regular joe. Not taking a routine walk but having to do it because of sercumstances beyound his control. Well, it happened that Barcelona midfielder and Croatia international, Ivan Rakitic had to do this after arriving from Croatia on international duty. The reason being that the airport in Barcelona was blocked because of protests in the city and as a result, he had to walk home.

The midfielder has spent most of the season on the bench at Barcelona and found himself out of the starting XI again on Monday for Croatia’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Wales.

Rakitic came on at half-time of the game but then headed back to Barcelona where he got caught up in mass protests that blocked traffic around El Prat Airport.

El Pais reported that Rakitic flew back into Barcelona on Monday but was unable to drive out of the airport due to all the protestors. They snapped him on his phone apparently saying: “The road is blocked, what am I going to do?”
