The Senegalese national team has made unwanted history, as they become the first team in FIFA World Cup history to be eliminated through FIFA’s fair play rules.

The Teranga Lion’s became locked on the same points and identical goals stats as with Japan after the Samurai lost to Poland. Japan, however, finished the group stage with fewer yellow cards than Senegal who amassed two more cards than the Samurai blue.

‘I do not know if this rule is cruel or not, but I can’t ask my players to jump on the court to not receive yellows,” said the sad looking Coach of Senegal Aliou Cisse. It is the law of football, the law of fair play, and we had fewer points in that aspect, and we have to accept it. ‘In any case, these are the rules of the game, and we have to respect them, but we would have preferred to be eliminated in another way.”
