Uruguay dealt a blow to the pride of the Russian football team by dishing out a first defeat of the World Cup to Putin’s boys. The victory means Uruguay end up on top Group A taking all 9 points available from 3 games. The scoring began with Luis Suarez netting his second goal of the tournament, followed by an own goal by Cheryshev and the scoring was wrapped up by a late Cavani goal. The 1st and 2nd placed teams of Group A are set up to face the 2nd and 1st teams of Group B respectively. According to the bookmakers, Group B will be represented by Portugal and Spain in the next round, which is a daunting task for either of the Group A qualifiers.
