Unexploded World War II bombs removed at AS Roma training ground

There was an unexpected interruption at Roma’s Trigoria training ground today, as the army had to come in and remove 20 unexploded WWII bombs.

Il Messaggero newspaper points out they were discovered during construction work to build new training pitches.

The devices were buried near Piazzale Dino Viola, in the heart of the Roma training ground.

All activity was suspended and experts were called in, who discovered there were not three, but around 20 unexploded bombs in the area.

Roma released an image of the army experts attending to the scene, and they were able to remove the devices in just over an hour.

Paulo Fonseca and his squad did not interrupt their training session, as they were in a different area of the camp.
