Al Nassr fell to a 2-0 defeat to Al Taawoun in their second game of the 2023/24 Saudi Pro League season.

It’s a second straight defeat for Al Nassr – who only a week ago won the Arab Champions Cup courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo winner.

However, it’s been a slow start to the league season for the Saudi side despite having the likes of Sadio Mane and former Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in their ranks.

They lost 2-1 to Al-Ettifaq before tonight’s 2-0 loss on home turf.

“I would say we deserved to lose the game today because we didn’t play well,” former Liverpool forward Mane said, after the game.

“We lost control and we defended not so good. We need to do what we did in the past few weeks if we want to win games.

“But now we have to forget about this loss and sleep well, eat well – to regain energy – and try to win our next game which is really important.”

Al Nassr will take on Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in an AFC Champions League qualifier before facing Al Fateh next in the league.
