Nigeria forward Victor Boniface signed a 5-year deal for Bayer 04 Leverkusen from Belgian side Union SG on Saturday.

It is rumoured the transfer was worth 20 million Euros, with an additional 7.5 million Euros in add-ons and contractual clauses. That makes it the most expensive sale in Union SG’s history, dwarfing the 7 million Euros received from Club Brugge for Casper Nielsen last year.

Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes said: “Victor is a very commanding and difficult to handle centre forward who will be a challenge for every defender with his physicality,” Rolfes said per the club’s official website. “In addition, he is also quick and has good technique.

“Over the long term, we now have a strong and versatile striker with potential in our ranks. He will help us improve the quality of our squad for the large number of games in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and the Europa League.”

Boniface, 22, scored six goals and provided two assists in ten Europa League games with Saint-Gilloise last term.
