NFF extends Jose Peseiro’s contract til after 2024 Afcon

The Nigeria Football Federation has extended the contract of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro until after next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Peseiro, who has coached Porto and Sporting in his home country and took over Nigeria in May last year, has led Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast starting in January but his current contract was scheduled to end on June 30.

The NFF has also given the Portuguese a target. Peseiro must reach the semifinal of the African showpiece in Ivory Coast next year, per OwnGoal.

Since failing to qualify for last year’s World Cup in Qatar, Nigeria have won four and lost five of their games.
