Arsenal are willing to sell Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey this summer as part of an overhaul of their midfield.

The Gunners’ pursuit of West Ham United’s Declan Rice marks the initial stage of their planned midfield overhaul at the Emirates Stadium. As part of the restructuring process, both Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey could potentially depart from the club in the following weeks.

Negotiations between Arsenal and West Ham United for Rice, who is their primary target, are ongoing, while Xhaka is anticipated to join Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of approximately £13 million.

There is a possibility that Partey may also exit the club this summer, as Arsenal is reportedly willing to capitalize on the transfer of the Ghanaian international, provided suitable replacements can be secured.

Xhaka and Partey played pivotal roles in Arsenal’s unexpected title challenge during the 2022/23 season. However, with both players now aged 30, manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu are keen on rejuvenating the midfield for the long term.

The Gunners’ plan involves rebuilding the midfield around captain Martin Odegaard and potentially Rice, should an agreement be reached with West Ham. Additionally, Arsenal is exploring other midfield options in the transfer market this summer.
