Reports suggest that Arsenal has submitted a bid, believed to be around £30 million, for Ajax and Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber.

Timber, who has attracted interest from various Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, currently has two years remaining on his contract.

Although Ajax is understood to be seeking a fee higher than £30 million, personal terms are unlikely to pose an issue if an agreement on the transfer fee is reached.

Arsenal, having finished second in the Premier League last season, are optimistic about finalizing the deal. However, other clubs, including Bayern Munich, have also shown interest in signing the 22-year-old this summer.

During the previous season, Timber made 47 appearances across all competitions for Ajax, featuring in all six of their Champions League group stage matches. He played a key role in helping the Amsterdam side secure the Eredivisie title in both 2021 and 2022.

With 15 caps for the Netherlands, Timber participated in four matches during the 2022 World Cup, where the Dutch team advanced to the quarter-finals.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to reinforce his defense amid a potential summer of changes at the club. Meanwhile, there remains uncertainty surrounding the futures of midfielders Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, as Arsenal continues to show interest in West Ham captain Declan Rice.
