Eddie Howe and his Newcastle side produced their best performance of the season with a big victory over Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park.

The impressive and high-flying magpies were five goals up within twenty-one minutes of an electric first half that saw them claim a deserved 6-1 victory.

There was never going to be a dull moment in the game, as the home side opened the scoring as early as the 2nd minute through Jacob Murphy before Joeliton’s goal, another Murphy goal, and a brace from Isak saw the home side went five-nil up inside a full St. James’ Park.

Callum Wilson restored the home side’s 5-goal advantage in the 67th minute after Harry Kane reduced the deficit for Spurs in the 3rd minute of the second half.

Newcastle have now lost once at home this season to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and have beaten Manchester United, Chelsea, and now Tottenham.

They have now won six of their last seven league matches and the third in a row at home since losing to Liverpool on the 18th of February.

Tottenham Hotspur’s woes continue

Given how their season has progressed till now, Spurs players may be forgiven for their professionalism as how the manager that started the season left and the appointment of Christian Stellini till the end of the season, but their poor display at Newcastle will bring doubt again about their fighting spirits.

The North London side have now won only two games in eight league matches and with no cup commitment again this season following their FA Cup fifth-round exit at Sheffield United last month.

Newcastle United must now finish what is looking likely to be a successful season on a high with a top-four finish since 2003 when they finished third on the league table.
