Chelsea are closing on appointing former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino as their next permanent manager with the Argentine set to join the West London side at the end of the season.

Co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly who took over the reins of the club from under the stewardship of previous owner Roman Abramovich, has been ruthless since taking over the affairs of the club, with former player and interim manager Frank Lampard the fourth manager to manage the club this season.

Pochettino, 51, whose last job was with PSG where he won the league title and cup before he was shown the exit door in the summer of 2022, will have the chance to manage his third club in the Premier League after previous jobs at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea had previously held talks with Julian Nagelsmann who is available after being sacked from Bayern Munich and Spanish manager Luis Enrique with both managers losing out of the running at the initial stages.

Todd Boehly and fellow co-owner Behdad Eghbali will now aim to get the right manager for the 2021 Champions League winner after previous decisions to replace Thomas Tuchel with English manager Graham Potter has resulted in the Blues sitting in the lower half of the league table.
