Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading scorer, Harry Kane, surpassed the great Jimmy Greaves, as his 267th goal for the club dented Manchester City’s title hopes at a raucous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England captain reached the milestone with a calm finish from 10 yards out after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg did an excellent job finding Kane inside the box.

Fans jumped out of their seats to applaud the 29-year-old striker, whose first goal for Spurs came on December 15, 2011, while a message read ‘Congratulations Harry Kane’ on the scoreboard inside the stadium.

Kane’s 200th Premier League goal came in the 15th minute; only Alan Shearer (260 goals) and Wayne Rooney (208) have more.

It came against the run of play and with Spurs boss Antonio Conte recovering at home after surgeryAMP to remove his gallbladder.

Tottenham, who finished with 10 men after defender Cristian Romero was sent off in the 87th minute for two bookable offences, dug deep to frustrate City in the absence of their Italian manager.

Man City struggled to find their rhythm in the second half, and Kevin De Bruyne came on as the game dragged on. Spurs, on the other hand, posed more of a threat, with City’s forward line looking disjointed for the majority of the game and Erling Haaland unable to enter the game.

Erling Haaland failed to touch the ball in the penalty area at Spurs – and had no shots

Following Arsenal’s defeat at Everton on Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s side missed an opportunity to cut Arsenal’s five-point lead at the top of the table.

Riyad Mahrez came closest to equalizing with a shot that cannoned off the underside of the bar, but City have failed to pick up a point – or a goal – in five visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham’s victory moves them one point behind fourth-placed Newcastle, while they remain five points behind Arsenal despite having played one more game.
