Qataris investors are set to make an “incredible mega-money” bid to takeover Manchester United “in the coming days”, according to reports.

The Glazer family, who are the current owners of Manchester United are willing to sell the club and reports towards the end of 2022 said they are looking for at least £6 billion.

According to The Daily Mail, “a group of private, high-wealth individuals based in the oil-rich state, buoyed by Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup, have set their sights on a club they view as football’s crown jewels”.

The Glazers, who have been in charge of Man United since 2005 have set a deadline of mid-February.

Per Football regulations, one entity cannot own multiple clubs in the same competition which would be an issue if Qataris Sport Investments are behind the bid for United, as they currently own French Club Paris-Saint Germain.

On paper, United and PSG could meet in the Champions League or any other European club competition.

However, according to the report, the Red Devils bid would come from individual investors, who want to strengthen the club financially by giving manager Erik ten Hag the money to buy the world’s best football players.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a British billionaire, is among the other potential buyers after he confirmed his interest in the club in January.

On the field, United are having their strongest season for some time, with the club in the final of the League Cup against Newcastle United at the end of February

They also have a last 32 UEFA Europa League tie against Barcelona to look forward to and have progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Reds are also third in the English Premier League, eight points behind leaders Arsenal, and will come up against Leeds United on Wednesday.
