Neymar dedicated his brace against Bordeaux on Saturday to his late friend and Brazilian singer Marilia Mendonca, who died in a plane crash on Friday.
She was 26.
Neymar put Paris Saint-Germain ahead before doubling their advantage before the break in their 3-2 win over Bordeaux in the Ligue 1 on Saturday.
“I will always be your fan, queen of suffering. RIP MM,” the Brazilian forward said.
Mendonça, who started her career as a teenager, was one of the biggest names of Brazilian country music known as sertanejo. She was known as the country’s “Queen of Suffering”.
She became famous for focusing on women’s experiences with failed relationships.
The Grammy winner, who had a two-year-old son, was set to perform at a concert on Friday evening in the city of Caratinga, 12km from the crash site.
Hours before the accident, she posted a video on social media in which she prepared to board the private aircraft.
Four other people – her uncle, her producer and two crew members – also died in the accident in a rural area in south-eastern Minas Gerais state.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash.
