Steve Bruce will remain in charge of Newcastle for their Premier League game against Tottenham on Sunday following the club’s £305m takeover, and the 60-year-old has said he’ll try to convince the club’s new owners to give him a chance.

“I’ll have a crack and try my utmost, who wouldn’t want this opportunity?” Bruce said in a presser ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action.

“Any manager would love to sit in my chair, so I will make a fist of it and try my utmost. I will try my best for the club.”

Newcastle new owners are looking to change things within the club, with talks of new star players and a new management team getting loud.

They are without a win in the Premier League this season and are in 19th place. But Bruce and his charges will try to turn things around against Tottenham at St James’ Park this Sunday.
