Following the absence of eight UK-based players in the Super Eagles squad, Gernot Rohr has selected seven standby players for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde.

Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored a brace against Liberia on Friday, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo, Frank Onyeka, and Joe Aribo will not be part of the squad travelling to Cape Verde due to the island nation being in Britain’s COVID-19 red list. The players have already left the camp.

The rest of the available squad in camp is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho; Daniel Akpeyi; Maduka Okoye

Defenders: Chidozie Awaziem; Kenneth Omeruo; Valentine Ozornwafor; Tyronne Ebuehi; Olaoluwa Aina; Jamilu Collins; Abdullahi Shehu; Zaidu Sanusi.
