Ahead of Nigeria’s Super Eagles first World Cup qualifying game, coach Gernot Rohr has expressed concerns over the choice of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos as venue of the game.

Nigeria will play host to Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and Rohr says the playing surface of the pitch needs to be revamped to be suitable for his players. In addition, he lamented about the traffic situation in Lagos.

“We are happy to play in Lagos but there are two things that must be better. The first thing is for the traffic, we cannot spend one hour and half from the hotel to the stadium. It’s too long,” the German told Elegbete TV.

“The other problem is infrastructure. They had good work on the pitch but it’s not yet on a higher international level.

“Our players are used to playing on very good grass. It is still not the case. They should play in the best infrastructure like they have in other countries.”

Rohr said the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo will be a better choice, as they have one of the best infrastructure. The stadium in Abuja will also be good when work is completed on it, Rohr claims.
