The former Liverpool captain joins Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard and Dennis Bergkamp in receiving the League’s highest individual honour.

He was the driving force in Liverpool’s midfield for 17 years, Gerrard inspired his team-mates with surging runs, pinpoint passes, talismanic tackles and spectacular strikes, scoring 120 goals and providing 92 assists in the competition.

He made 504 appearances for Liverpool, scored 120 goals and provided 92 assists. He won six player of the month awards but never a Premier League medal denied by a famous slip.

He recently led Rangers to an unbeaten season, breaking Celtic’s 10years dominance in the Scottish Premier League.
