Ronaldo fears son is too comfortable to have the motivation to succeed
Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reported to have expressed concerns over his son Cristiano Jr. future in football, worried he may lack the motivation to succeed because of his comfortable upbringing.
UFC superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov, a good friend of Ronaldo revealed this to YouTube channel Krasava.
“He told me he wanted his son to succeed him but he was worried he won’t be able to do it since when Cristiano himself was his age, he could only dream about a pair of simple cleats [boots],” Khabib said.
“His son has everything. So he’s worried that he will never feel that hunger. In fact, people are driven by hunger. One needs motivation, one needs to have a desire to achieve things. When you have everything, it’s hard to find a proper source of motivation.
“When he told me that, I can’t say I was surprised, as things are simple things. But I liked it. I understood that he was such a person who would never be satisfied with one, two or three titles.”
Ronaldo had a rough upbringing on the streets of Madeira in Portugal and starred with Sporting CP before being signed up by Manchester United. He credits his upbringing for his mentality and hunger to succeed.
He is a five time world footballer of the year and the official record goalscorer in football. He withdrew his son from the Madrid academy and enrolled him at Juventus when he made the move in 2018 and is reported to have been a proficient goalscorer just like his father.
