Nine footballers die in Sierra Leone road accident

Nine footballers and a coach have tragically passed away in a gruesome road accident on Sunday between Makoth and Makarie in the Bombali District, Sierra Leone, according to Football Sierra Leone.

30 persons, 25 footballers, a coach and other officials were in a bus when it ran into a truck resulting in the death of nine of them and 20 others seriously injured and in critical condition.

They were returning to Makeni from Batkanu in Karane District after playing a successful community football gala. The North East Region Football Association (NEFRA) PRO confirmed the news and suspended all football activities in Bombali until the players are buried.
