Nigerian midfielder John Ogu has revealed that he was failed by people he trusted. The former Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder said this in an emotional thread on Twitter while celebrating reaching 176,000 followers on Twitter.
In trying to clarify his current situation to his followers, he recounted his past experiences of failed trust in his sojourn across different countries playing in Europe.
“Truth is, A lot of people I trusted failed me in my career moving forward. I remembered I trusted someone back here in Nigeria after I signed for Almeria in La Liga then but because of their selfish interest for me to play in Belgium, the deal crashed but we moved,” he tweeted.
“Went to Portugal, and then I was without a top club then ended up in Israel where I became KING with the help of my brother Tony Nwakaeme on the field where we won titles together. I’m so proud to see him buzzing hard in Turkey and flourishing.”
After a successful time in Israel at Hapoel Be’er Sheva where he won three league titles and two cups, Ogu signed for Saudi Arabian club Al-Adalah in 2020 before the outbreak of coronavirus.
At 32 and having not played for a year, Ogu is still open to playing opportunities: “I’m as hungry as ever to succeed in this life and career God has chosen for me. Market is open and I’m working so hard to get back on the pitch.” he said.
He has 27 caps for the national team and last played for the Super Eagles in the 2019 AFCON where the Super Eagles won the bronze medal.
