Bayern Munich dug deep to win 3-1 at Stuttgart on Saturday to remain top of Bundesliga but Flick admits it was a difficult game against the newly promoted side.

Goals from in-form goal machine Robert Lewandwoski, Kingsley Coman and Douglas Costa secured all three points for the German champions after going a goal down.

“We all know our football isn’t easy on the eye at the moment but we’re getting the results. It was important to get a grip after conceding the goal and to take three points. That’s what counts, but we all know we can play better,” Flick said after the match.

“It was a hard-fought match, Stuttgart did a very good job. Their football is very attractive, very good for a newly-promoted team. They made life difficult for us today. It was important to take the three points and not squander anything. That’s what we did today, and in that sense I accept it.”

Bayern Munich’s next game is a trip away to Spain to face Atletico Madrid in the matchday five of the Champions League. Though Bayern have progressed to the round of 16, a win would secure top spot for them.
